Hi Boyz, I am in Seoul, it is already midday.
Today our scripture to memorize is Ephesians 6,16. In all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all (the) flaming arrows of the evil one.
So far we have girded our loins in truth. We surround ourselves with truth. The truth is no other than the Word of God, so we strive that lies, in other words the things the world holds attractive, what the pagans believe, and the worshippers of money preach should not loosen the belt around our waist, otherwise our pants may fall. Or even if our pants don't fall, our souls will be trapped, eyes become blind, ears deaf, and we believe every profound truth that TV ads, the National Geographic Channel and other reliable sources of information tell us.
We also know already that we are to be clothed with righteousness as a breastplate. We have to work on becoming good, and do good deeds, to be able to stand before men. Of course, our good deeds will not be enough to make us stand before God, no matter how many we do, because of the original sin that contaminated us, and that is why Jesus had to die for us on the cross, so that we can become truly right and go to heaven.
The third ingredient of the armour of God is the footwear, readiness for the gospel of peace.
We go where the Lord is leading us, and whatever we do we do it for the greater glory of God.
Today we will learn to hold faith as a shield, to quench all (the) flaming arrows of the evil one.
The flaming arrows of the devil are all the thoughts that burn our souls and nothing can soothe it, but faith. The questions that have no answer only by faith. The desires that cannot fulfill anything but the Lord.
Faith is a gift of God, so we have to ask for it, we are not able to generate it ourselves. The one who tries to generate faith from himself becomes superstitious. Superstition is when we attribute power to something that does not have it. for example if someone believes that the medal can save him from harm is superstitious. The one who believes that the saint depicted on the medal can save him from harm is a believer. He has faith.
Faith is the acceptance of facts that the mind cannot comprehend but since God revealed them we accept them. One example is to believe that the bread and wine during Mass becomes the real flesh and blood of Christ. No 21st century research will prove that the wafer made of whie flour and water, and the wine are the living body and blood of Christ, moreover, in every single church of the earth, 24 hours a day, wherever they say Mass.
However, if I rely on my own intellect or on the intellect of chemists and researchers who are much smarter than me, instead of the God-given faith, I am locking myself in a small room, created by myself and the above mentioned chemists and researchers, and do not allow the Lord to place me on a wide plain.
The will of the Lord is that those whom He gives faith will stand on a wide plain, crawl out of the narrow cave that all those smart ones including me created, where the limits are set by the limited minds and intellects of these above mentioned smart ones.
So what is it that faith will protect us from? From our own enclosedness, own finite, perishable, narrow limits. And faith places us out in the freedom of God. Everything is possible for the one with faith.
What are you choosing? Your own smartness or God's silliness? Your own comprehendable easy-to-understand, user-friendly explanations, or God's unexplainable incomprehensiveness?
I believe that God is sitting in heaven on a decorated chair and the earth is the stool under His feet. Also I know that He is Spirit and has no body. Jesus on the other hand, resurrected in the body and His Virgin Mother was also taken up in body to Heaven, and now she is the Queen of heaven, and the serpent, the devil is under her feet. Also, my dad now, or shortly, after we prayed him out of purgatory, will eat nice food and drink wine with the Lord in Heaven. If I listened to my mind, I would say it is nonsense. Where does vine grow in heaven? And who makes the wine? And why does God need a stool if He does not have feet?
And if God does not have hands, how can we sit on His palm even now although we have not even died yet?
This is why I rather choose faith that frees my spirit from the little cave of my intellect and allows me to accept facts that are much bigger than me. This is why I say with that old fellow from the Bible: Lord, I believe, help my unbelief!
So today let us learn to hold the shield of faith, if we do not have it, let us ask for it to get free from our cages.
Lots of love
Mom!
